Way back in March, I was beyond surprised to be nominated for not one, but two blogger awards by Stuart of CakeyBoi!!! Quite exciting!
(You might remember Stuart from his Hot Cross Scones guest post in March earlier this year.)
Sadly, I didn’t have a chance to pass along these awards until now.
The Liebster Award is for bloggers with less than 300 followers and the recipient nominates eleven fellow bloggers asking them eleven random questions. The rules state that a nominee must link back to the blogger from whom they received a nomination. The nominee will write eleven random facts about themselves and then answer the eleven questions that have been set for them. They will then nominate another eleven bloggers and post eleven questions to them.
I had to cheat a little and choose some bloggers with more than 300 followers as it was hard for me to find many bloggers that I follow/discovered with less than 300 followers!
Random facts about myself:
Eleven is my favorite number and The Liebster Award uses this number often!
I broke a rib a few years back from a constant cough that had lasted 4-5 months.
I also once threw my back out sneezing in the shower and couldn’t move for a full day.
I am distantly related to Lin Zexu through family ties from my mother’s side. There’s a statue of him in NYC’s Chinatown.
I became a musician at a very early age starting with the piano and slowly incorporated melodic instruments using up to six mallets (which was rare for people at that time).
While I love to read many genres, my favorite book will always be Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
On the topic of reading, I use to get in trouble throughout grade school, middle school, and high school for reading (my current book instead of a textbook) during class.
I saved my cat, Cleopatra Selene Minor aka Selene, from near death when she was less than 2 weeks old and left out in the rain by her biological mother right by my apartment complex dumpster. She couldn’t pick herself up and her body temperature was lower than my hands. She’s been with me for almost four years.
I’ve always been obsessed with Siberian Huskies and hope to own one, or a few, in the future. I’m so obsessed, I have over 40+ stuffed animal huskies.
I’ve only owned rotary engine cars. First, my 1987 Mazda Rx7 (which is not operational at the moment and is waiting to be transported to Utah) and now my 2005 Mazda Rx8 (which I’ve almost owned for a year!).
I love to travel and do so willingly. One day in the future, I will traverse the world!
Answering Stuart’s questions:
What was your first pet? A cute little dwarf hamster that I named Boo (from Baldur’s Gate)!
Tea or coffee? Both. ^_^
If you could be any cartoon character who would it be any why? This was a hard one. First, I had to figure out if anime could be justified as a cartoon, which it was. Then, I argued with Mr. Munchimunch about my final choice since this question didn’t specify if the cartoon character I chose had to be a male or a female! It was a difficult choice between Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin or Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, both of whom are male characters. In the end, I chose to be Kenshin for his tragic past and even more tragic love story along with his growth, development, and atonement for his past sins and decisions. He is such a strong and interesting character!
Who is your favourite TV chef? This is silly, but I grew up watching Martin Yan of Yan Can Cook.
What colour eyes do you have? Dark (chocolate) brown closer to black.
Indian or Chinese cuisine? Definitely Chinese.
Have you ever fallen asleep in the cinema? If so, what was the movie? The only time I ever fell asleep was during Heath Ledger’s Joker monologue in The Dark Knight. In my defense, it was my fifth time watching it in theaters and I was running on only a few hours of sleep without coffee. I didn’t miss anything!
Gym or sofa? haha, my sofa.
Is there a blog you aspire to be as successful as? If so, what is the site? There are way too many blogs to list and I do not want to pinpoint any specific one out since there are way too many lovely blogs out there!
When was the last time you recorded on to a video cassette? Wow, I’d have to say during mid to late 1990s!
Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry? Hm, I have no preference.
My nominations (in alphabetical order):
Benjamin of Weekends Are For Pancakes

Connie of Connie to the Wonnie
