The Bayou is known for having a great selection of beer, 1/2 priced appetizers after 10 pm, and Cajun influenced comfort foods. While I can’t partake in Cajun spiciness, I can enjoy the many other items on their menu.
One of my friends ordered, if I remember correctly, the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with a side of chipotle aioli, fries, and a crispy pickle. She wasn’t disappointed.
One of my other friends ordered the Sunburst Salad with port wine soaked cranberries, almonds, and blue cheese served with cinnamon and Tabasco vinegarette. This girl will douse her Tabasco on everything!
I ordered the Muffaletta Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. This was definitely The Bayou’s take on the Muffaletta. It wasn’t exactly what I expected and I do wish there was more of everything, especially the olive salad. Even with the differences, it was a tasty sandwich. The Muffaletta is, unquestionably, my favorite sandwich of all time. I can’t wait to go back to New Orleans and have an authentic Muffaletta!
By the time dinner was over, the three of us were fully stuffed. We had wanted to split a dessert, but were unable to. No big deal though. It just means I’ll have to return sooner rather than later!
If you haven’t been to The Bayou yet, I do suggest you give it a try. Please note that this is a 21+ establishment and there is hardly any parking. There is a small lot on the side, but it is quickly filled up so you must rely on street parking. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I did!
